Hello everyone!
My wife has been dreaming of Ireland for many years and is dragging me to Kenmare next week.
We (both 60 years old) are in Kenmare for a week and would love to have friendly people explain the country and its people to us. Would anyone like to meet up, just for an hour or two? A few words to understand the people, the culture, and the peculiarities of your beautiful country.
Thank you in advance,
Robert

Hi Robert,

It sounds like you (or your wife? 😉) have a fun trip planned.

Kenmare is a small town with lots of character. A safe way to get to meet the locals and have an interesting chat is by spending some time in one of the local pubs and sharing a pint - and maybe even some live music. Other than that, I would recommend having a stroll through the town and browsing some of the local shops, or maybe you even want to plan a visit to the local farmers' market (every Wednesday).

One more thing that might be interesting and informative for you and your wife is a guided tour. You can find a variety of tours online and can pick one depending on your interests. I did a quick search and found this foodie tour, for example, which not only sounds delicious but is also packed with stories from your local guides.

Do you and your wife like to be active during your holidays? The Kenmare Walking Club seems very popular with the locals, and they also invite visitors to their different tours.

I hope you find these ideas helpful for your planning. I'd love to hear about your trip and if you made any new friends during your time in Kenmare! ☘️

Both of us! 😊Hi Sarah, great, I'm thrilled! So quick and so many tips – thank you so much!

My wife doesn't drink alcohol, but I haven't had a drink for two weeks so I can spend enough time going to the bars...😇 We've already made plans for the farmers market – the foodie tour sounds fantastic, we'll definitely go.

We'll be turning over every stone in Kenmare and are really looking forward to seeing the town center and the people. Unfortunately, the weather is bad next week, but that won't stop us...

Thanks again, Sarah, for your message and your effort. All the best, and maybe we'll see each other...

Hi Robert,

It sounds like you and your wife have a wonderful trip planned! I hope you enjoy every part of Kenmare, the people, the food, and the town itself.

Wishing you both safe travels, good weather when you can get it, and a really memorable experience in Ireland.
