Hi I’m planning a trip to Dublin in spring for myself and my 20 yr old son. Recommendations please for areas and hotels etc to stay without costing a fortune. We plan to go to the Guinness factory and then would like to go to some good old fashioned Irish pubs and restaurants. We don’t want to get caught up in the stag and hen party madness.
Thank you in advance
Regards
Stuart

Hello Stuart,

It’s great to hear that you are planning a spring trip to Dublin, together with your son! Dublin has a lot to explore for both of you, and I'll be happy to share some ideas and practical info. How long will you be here for?

First of all, let's answer your practical questions. For accommodation, there is a wide range of possibilities, from castle-stays to hostels and even quirkier options. This article about Dublin's Quarters can help you decide in which area you would like to stay.

City trips can indeed get expensive, but on our website, you can find ideas for Dublin experiences that are budget-friendly. On this Community forum, too, you can find more ideas for affordable things to see and do that will leave you more budget for great Irish food.

You might enjoy the Dublin Hop-on Hop-off bus tour! In addition to the Guinness Brewery visit, there are also many museums, parks, traditional music pubs, and even literary attractions to explore. To get away from the hustle and bustle, here are some recommendations for day trips or outdoor activities within easy reach of the city.

I hope this gives you a taste for what the city has to offer and what you would like to do when you are there. I'd love to hear what you think of these suggestions and if you perhaps have more ideas for what you would like to see and do?

For now, enjoy the preparations for you trip!

Vera
