Hello,
We are going on a road trip to Ireland in early April. I had planned to visit the Cliffs of Moher, but given the price of the official parking lot, I found a more reasonable parking lot at Hag's Head. However, I understand that the trail is closed. Can anyone confirm this and suggest an alternative? For your information, there will be two adults and two children aged 13 and 9.Thank you in advance.

Hi Aurélie,

An April road trip is such a lovely way to see the island as everything starts to bloom.

The southern stretch of the path from Hag’s Head toward the main Visitor Centre is actually closed at the moment. There’s been some coastal erosion, making the cliff edges pretty unstable. Since that specific part of the trail is on private land and doesn't have any safety fences [not the best spot for a walk with a 9 and 13-year-old].

A great option is to park in the village of Doolin and catch the Bus Éireann Route 350. It runs several times a day and drops you right at the official Visitor Centre entrance, where everything is paved and safely fenced off.

Another fantastic option for a family adventure is taking a boat tour from Doolin Pier, which allows you to see the scale of the cliffs and the sea caves from the water without the safety risks of the high, unfenced trail.

I hope you and your family have a safe and memorable trip along the Wild Atlantic Way! :)
