As a part of our trip to Ireland in April/May of this year, we will be staying in Doolin for multiple days and plan to visit Caherconnell Fort & Sheepdog Experience as well as Poulanabrone Dolman.  For the next day, we are trying to figure out whether we should hike on our own in Burren National Park or Slieve Carran Nature Reserve (or both) or hire a guide to take us on a hike in another area of the Burren.  Any recommendations or thoughts?  Thank you in advance. ~Elizabeth

It's wonderful to hear that you will be in The Burren in a couple of months time while staying in Doolin! Hiking with a guide in any interesting landscape will give you added information that you may not find on your own. There are a couple of guides on our website, Burren Walks, Burren Hill Walks, and Burren Explore, who may be able to help with this idea. The National Parks website has some excellent information on the area as well, including the information centre, and also details of the Slieve Carran Nature Reserve, should you decide to strike out on your own. Either way, you will find plenty to see and do.

Thank you so much, Martin, for the links to the Burren Walks, the Burren Hill Walks, and the Burren Explore.  These are some great options for guided hikes/walks--exactly what I was looking for.  Now I have some decisions to make.
Thank you, again.  ~Elizabeth

You are most welcome, Elizabeth! There is also the Sport Ireland website where you can look for trails anywhere in the Republic of Ireland. Just add the county and type of hike, and it will list what's available. 🚶
Please feel free to let us know how you got on and what you decided to see in the end. ☺️
