Hi, I am planning to attend the Macgill summer school in Glenties from 23rd -25th July. I am travelling from Belfast by car.  I don’t want to do the journey in one day, as I would arrive a bit late in the day.   Could someone recommend a good route and a convenient place to stay overnight, which would leave me with a relatively short journey to Glenties the next day. Thanks.

Hi Irene, how lovely to hear that you are looking to attend the MacGill summer school in Glenties! ☺️It's about a 2 hour 40 minutes journey by car from the Belfast area to the Glenties. The first section, as far as Derry~Londonderry, is the most straightforward with the M2, M22 leading into the A6, most of which is dual carriageway.🚗 I would say that a good place to stay would probably be around Letterkenny, giving you just under an hour of driving in the morning. This last part is quite rural, R250, nice and scenic all the way to the Glenties.
There is an accommodation search page on our website. Just scroll down to the Where do you want to stay section and use the filters to refine your search. I have selected County Donegal to get you started, just add a type to further refine the search. There is also the B&B Ireland website, which has a search page too. Hopefully, this will help find somewhere to stay to break up your journey.
