Question from Yasmin Woodridge: Is there any record for the families that worked for the Cole family in Enskillen, Co.Fermanagh? My ancestors, the Walmsleys, had been working for the Cole family for a very long time; I think since the 17th century in Ireland.

Answer from Findmypast: Families tended to keep their own records of those who worked for them, some of which kept better records than others (and indeed, some of which kept them in a better condition). Find the estates that these families owned and try to understand if records survive of those who worked there, they may be still held privately (particularly if a family still exists) or they may have been deposited at a local archive nearby.
