Ciao Giovanna!

It's super easy to cross the border with a rental car, just keep in mind the speed limit is indicated in miles in Northern Ireland and in kilometres in the Republic! The only thing you need to do is letting your rental company know beforehand you'll be crossing borders, for insurance reasons. You can find some more practical information on vehicle rental on our website.

Seeing you're writing us from Italy, you might be interested to know we have an Italian portal as well, and colleagues who are more than happy to help you in Italian, should you prefer.

Have you decided on a route yet?

Joris

Yes! No problem Giovanna, you won't even know you've when you have crossed "the border" as it's an invisible one...the style of road signs change but that's about it really. Euro is used in Ireland and Sterling currency is used in Northern Ireland. Safe driving!

Dear Giovanna,

May I suggest that from Belfast you might like to travel north along the Causeway Coast Way.  This beautiful driving route hugs the coastline for most of the journey and takes in great scenery, golden beaches, ancient castles, Game of Thrones film locations and many interesting attractions including the Giant's Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  From the Causeway Coast Way you can connect onto The Wild Atlantic Way at Derry, or if you are travelling before the 16th September, by ferry across Lough Foyle into Donegal.

I hope you have a great time travelling round Ireland, whatever direction you choose to take!

Kind Regards,
Anne

Ciao, Giovanna!

Sono curioso di chiederti: stai ancora programmando il tuo viaggio? Se no, com'è stata la tua esperienza on the road in Irlanda? Fin dove ti sei avventurata?

A presto!
