Fauna de Irlanda - Ireland's Wildlife

Hace un mes estuve viajando por la costa suroeste de Irlanda y me gustaría compartir algunas de las fotografías de animales que hice.

El inicio del viaje fue Galway, donde sus famosos cisnes son ya unos vecinos más.



La siguiente parada, las islas Arán. El paisaje totalmente diferente al del resto de Irlanda, no impide que puedas encontrar una fauna de lo más variada, con vacas, caballos y burros entre sus habitantes.

So I love diving, it's a great way to discover an ecosystem we know little about.
There are fantastic sites where you can dive along the island and some amazing groups that help you enjoy it safely and, most importantly, while respecting that fragile ecosystem.

The last dive I've done was at the SS-Chirripo shipwreck, just nearby Black Head in Northern Ireland.
As I didn't have an underwater camera, I thought I would share some of  Richard Thorn's amazing pictures of what I had the pleasure to see during my dives.











Warning - the water can be cold, I did not have the drysuit last time, and the second dive was hard. I dived with DV Diving, but there are loads of Dive Clubs around.

J'ai eu l'occasion de visiter Eagles Flying, un centre dédié à la préservation de la faune irlandaise. Le centre venez d'ouvrir ses portes au public et je dois dire que j'ai adoré le fait de voir vautours, aigles et autres oiseaux de proie de si près. Ils ont des "spectacle de vol" mais en tant que centre dépendant de bénévolat, la grande partie de leur temps est consacré au secours des oiseaux de la région et protection d'espèces en danger.

Pour finir, une petite photo d'une autre faune importante, les insectes! 🕷️
J'ai une passion pour la photo et la nature, donc souvent je vais Glamping. Avec l'âge, le camping devient moins amusant pour moi mais avec l'option du glamping, je peux profiter de la nature avec un peu plus de confort surtout durant les nuits froides.Cette photo a etait prise à Crom Estate, les glamping pods sont situées près du lac, le matin avec la brume, c'est juste si paisible.
(je peux pas résister à partager la vue également)





Un jour j'ai cru voir une baleine sur les côtes du Donegal mais mon mari m'a soutenue que c'était une vague - il n'avait pas ses lunettes sur lui. 😜
J'espère néanmoins pouvoir en prendre une en photo un jour.

Toen ik in St. Stephen's Green was, was ik aangenaam verrast met de meeuwen, waarschijnlijk afkomstig uit de baai. Op het continent vind je eenden en ganzen, maar in Dublin zijn er andere vogels!



Zoals je kunt zien, waren ze niet bang voor mij: 

My parents are massive birders, so when they came over to visit me while I was living in Northern Ireland, we planned an epic birding adventure across a wide variety of habitats.



1. Castle Espie Wetland Centre is one of the most well-known and respected birding spots across the region, home to the widest variety of waterfowl in Ireland and one of the top birding locations in the whole of the UK.  


2. Rathlin Island is a MUST-VISIT locale for birding enthusiasts. The RSPB Rathlin West Light Seabird Centre was closed for renovations when we visited back in 2014, but we were able to explore the seabirds by boat during our visit. We arranged with a local guide in advance of our visit and were able to see thousands of shorebirds and several puffins (see below)! 




From the waterfalls of Claddagh Glens a the Marble Arch Caves Geopark in County Fermanagh to the Mountains of Mourne in County Down -- and the many places in between -- we chased down some "life birds" for my parents to identify and enjoy! 

The island is a wonderful place for many types of wildlife, and certainly for many bird varieties.

Vor der Haustür Irlands kann man so einige kleine Freunde sehen und das, zu jeder Jahreszeit! Im Frühling sind die Spatzen am Zwitschern und teilweise sogar zutraulich, wenn es um die Futtersuche geht. Im Sommer entpuppen sich die wunderschönen Schmetterlinge und in manchen Parks sind sogar Schwäne zu Hause, wie hier im Oakfield Park. Zur kalten Jahreszeit, sieht man die kleinen frechen und putzigen Rotkehlchen manchmal sogar im ganz nah:

Una volta che hai guadagnato la sua fiducia, diventa un compagno disponibile e socievole e sempre affidabile nel lavoro!

Mijn persoonlijke favoriete plek om de lokale natuur en fauna te zien is Rathlin Island. Vanaf Ballycastle kun je de veerboot nemen naar het eiland, en onderweg kun je zeehonden, vele soorten vogels en zelfs dolfijnen spotten! 



Zodra je de veerboot afstapt wordt je in de haven al begroet door zeehonden die nieuwsgierig kun hoofd boven het water uitsteken, of spelend rondzwemmen. 



Er is ook een super grote groep met nestelende puffins die je kunt zien tussen maart en juni. Je ruikt en hoort de vogels voordat je ze ziet. (Hieronder een foto van het uitzicht vanaf boven)



Het eiland is overigens super makkelijk te voet te verkennen, maar je kunt ook een pendelbus nemen naar de puffins en andere locaties. 

Naast wilde dieren zie je uiteraard ook heel veel schapen en andere diersoorten op het eiland.
