You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to glamping locations on the island of Ireland. Glamping (short for glamorous camping) allows you to spend time in nature while enjoying luxuries such as a proper bed and a bathroom… It’s a great way to sleep “outside” without being at the mercy of Ireland’s changeable weather, too.

Glamping sites on the island of Ireland vary in accommodation type, size and facilities. Some sites require you to bring your own bedding and toiletries, while others provide everything for you. Choosing the perfect spot depends on the experience you’re looking for, so always check with whatever glamping site you book with.

Here are some to get you started:

Ox Mountain Adventure Camp in County Sligo is perfect if you’re looking to enjoy peace and tranquillity whilst surrounded by mountains and wilderness. You can choose between quirky accommodations such as a red bus, a tree house or a shepherd’s hut, and there are great activities such as guided hikes around the surrounding Ox Mountains, with routes starting and ending at the camp. And after a day of walking, there’s no better place to relax than in the camp’s hot tub.

For a glamping trip where the adventure starts before you even get there, visit Aran Islands Camping and Glamping in County Galway. This glamping site is situated on Inis Mór which is the largest of the Aran Islands and can be accessed from the mainland by ferry. Situated right on the beach, the cosy wooden pods are just a stroll away from Kilronan, the main town on Inis Mór, which gives them both a scenic and a very handy location. Best of all, you’ve all of Inis Mór on your doorstep – and what an island it is! In fact, this place is so picturesque that it was used as one of the locations for the award-winning film The Banshees of Inisherin.

If you’re looking for luxury but still want to watch the stars above as you fall asleep, visit Finn Lough in County Fermanagh. Not only do they provide toiletries here, but their gorgeous little soaps are locally made with natural ingredients. With an idyllic location right on the edge of Lough Erne, this glamping site is perfect for exploring both the Fermanagh Lakelands, and the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark, where you can head into the underworld for a guided tour along a subterranean river.

Another gorgeous spot that should be on your list is Ballyvolane House in Fermoy, County Cork, where the surroundings of a beautiful country house offer a delightful place to stay. There are no cooking facilities available on this glamping site, which is a blessing in disguise as it gives you a chance to opt for a fully-catered experience in Ballyvolane House.

Fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones® have an opportunity to stay a short distance away from The Dark Hedges. Check out the pods and offers at Thornfield Farm. https://discovernorthernireland.com/accommodation/further-space-at-thornfield-farm-p746621

Lovers of sand dunes, long beaches and beach activities might lodge at Benone Getaways located a couple of minutes’ walk from Benone Strand.  This beach has won the European Blue Flag Award many times. https://discovernorthernireland.com/accommodation/benone-getaways-glamping-village-p745051

County Donegal is a great place to visit and a super place for a spot of Glamping is Wild Atlantic Camp! With a choice of wooden pods, chic cabins, and luxury villas and chalets, the perfect location to enjoy the surroundings.

Situated over on the northwest coast area with access to some lovely beaches, Ards Forest Park, Glenveagh National Park, and more in Donegal's Northern Headlands.
