My gg grandmother was Catherine Murphy who married Thomas Foley in Borris in 1845. They had two children. Patrick b. 1846 and Maria 1848 in Borris. They went to America in 1849 and settled first in Maine, then Cleveland Ohio and ended up in St. John’s Michigan. Catherine and Thomas are buried in Mt. Rest cemetery. Thomas Foleys parents were Patrick and Margaret.

Hi Debbie!

Thank you for sharing such a fascinating piece of your family history. 😄
It’s wonderful to see the journey of Catherine and Thomas traced so clearly.

If you’d like to delve even further into your family tree, there might be some helpful resources to explore.
For example, Roots Ireland offers access to parish records that could include birth or marriage certificates for Catherine, Thomas, or even Patrick and Margaret.
These might provide deeper insights into your ancestors' lives in Borris before they emigrated.

Also, we have some resources on our website that may help.
I hope you can find more information if you are looking for it.

Have a great day! ☘️
