We had a wonderful time in Galway and the Wild Atlantic Way this summer. My son, who is autistic, and recently finished art college in Sweden, brought along his watercolours and camera. So far he has 3 paintings of different places he loved. Down Patrick in County Mayo (Gouache) Croagh Patrick in County Mayo (Gouache) Dungaire Castle (watercolour)

Hi Daphne,
I thought of your son's painting as I was traveling along Mayo and stopped at Downpatrick. He has such great talent! Would you mind if Tourism Ireland shares those on Social Media? We will, of course, give him credit!
I really love this thread and all the different ways Ireland inspires every one of us. Keep an eye on Tourism Ireland's social channels as more of your talents may get shared!
Also, if you have anything new, do not hesitate to post again! 🤩

Absolutely beautiful pieces of art, everyone! Thank you so much for sharing them. I made a piece of resin art for Saint Patrick's day that I'd like to share, as well. It's a green shamrock that I affixed to a board that I covered in forest moss and resin. I'm really quite proud of how it turned out! My only complaint is that I wish I had made a stem.

This Dear Land. So far away across the sea My thoughts do drift like grains of sand, Washed by memories of childhood free And running wild 'pon This Dear Land. An island dreamed of by a god Who reached from high above, his hand, And carved from moor and peat and bog An Emerald Isle, tis This Dear Land. An island filled with hopes and dreams Ambitions won and futures planned, With talent bursting at the seams And overflowing from This Dear Land. Where warrior poets do sweetly sing Of meadows green and mountains grand, And mighty rivers roar and spring And bring such life to This Dear Land. I see a place of coves and cliffs And fortress walls that go unmanned, I see a place where heroes lived And called it home thats This Dear Land. I see a place of quiet pride A place whose people so fiercely stand, Like sentinel stones they do not hide The love they bear for This Dear Land. Communities built on trust and hope And love no army could withstand, A peace hard won for all its folk From north to south 'cross This Dear Land. I weep a tear as i am parted from My home where families grow unbound, But my people and the soil are one And my heart belongs to This Dear Land.
Thanks to Saoirse-Monica Jackson whose interview I read inspired this piece, in which she said the hardest part of lockdown in London was being unable to get on a plane and return to her beloved Ireland and be with her family in the places that she loves. It is in part seen through her eyes and mine.

Hi Brian,
What a brilliant poem!
I was utterly swept away by your words and how passionate you clearly are about Ireland and its people. My favourite line in this lovely poem has to be, "A place whose people so fiercely stand, / Like sentinel stones they do not hide / The love they bear for This Dear Land."
That's so very true and endlessly powerful.
Thank you for sharing your art with us and let me be the very first to welcome you to our little community! It's just wonderful to have you here and you've already made quite an impressive splash. Please do feel free to do a bit of exploring around our community. You might just find a bit of inspiration for your next wonderful poem.
Kindest regards,
Rochelle
