We are looking at coming to Ireland for a week in mid-July. Our initial thought is to base ourselves for a few days in Dublin and a few days in Galway and then take day trips from each of those city. We will not have a car so we are looking at bus tours for 3 or so days.
So if we are in Dublin, which day trips would be the best (and not driving back and forth on the same routes)
and If we are in Galway, the same question.
And third question, is there a better place to base ourselves than these two cities?

Hi Tammy,

It is great to hear you are planning to visit Ireland this Summer.

Both of these cities are great bases to split your time with great proximity to the Wild Atlantic Way and Irelands Ancient East. Have a look at some of the day trips from Galway & Dublin to get a feel of what you can expect.

Let me know if you have any more questions and I would be happy to help.

Hi Tammy,

How exciting that you are coming to Ireland!

Both Dublin and Galway are great places to base yourself for day trips - from either of these you can take great day trips that all have something different to offer.

From Dublin, I would definitely suggest going out to Howth and seeing the beautiful Howth castle and ruins of St Mary's Abbey.

A lovely day trip from Galway could be anywhere in Connemara national park, for example Clifden or Letterfrack. Connemara is easily accessible with public transport from Galway.
